Rendezvous at night
In the rear view mirror the Audi looked like a beast with red rimmed eyes, crouched low and ready to spring. Intermittent menacing growls rattled the air around. I noticed that the moon was doing a flippetty floo everytime the beast honked. I looked up and saw a night jar do a drunken jig as it flew by. I could swear that it threw me a come hither look and why not, I know I looked my best in red and silver. Clearly it had good taste.
By now the beast was almost frothing at the mouth, the red rimmed eyes winked lasciviously and deviously. I’ve often wondered how someone can look devious. The hooded look is mean but devious? No. I mean … wait, the beast was smiling at me now. The eyes were lit up and the red rimmed look was gone. There was a song in the air as it whizzed past me, its cylinders rattling with mirth. Hmmm…that was definitely strange because as far as I knew on full moon nights mechanized beasts were supposed to party hard all night. No chuckles. No fun. Just hard, hard partying. Oh well.
Later that night it was discovered lying belly up at the park in the far northwest corner of town. The beast had clearly had its fill of partying. It was one thing to look mean and devious, but to continue partying non-stop…now that required serious appendages.
